Family Focused Solutions (FFS)

FFS is a voluntary support service that is provided by BHI through a contract with Tennessee Department of Human Services. The purpose of FFS is to assist TANF clients with removing barriers to employment and education. Whether it’s a referral or direct services that are needed, FFS will provide TANF clients with a counselor that will collaborate with the client and assist them in becoming self-sufficent. BHI serves all counties within West Tennessee.

Crisis Dispatch Services

BHI is the centralized call center for Carey Counseling Center, Quinco Mental Health Center and Professional Care Center’s Mobile Crisis Teams. As an accredited member of the International Council for Helplines (ICH), BHI answers all calls for the 988 Crisis Helpline for all of West TN, except Shelby County. Someone is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to assist adults who are experiencing a crisis.

Representative Payee Services

BHI offers to provide Representative Payee Services to persons who receive Supplemental Security Income and/or Social Security Disability Income. Representative Payee Services can be provided to persons who receive Case Management Services and/or other Services from area Mental Health Providers or from BHI.

The Creating Homes Initiative (CHI) Regional Housing Facilitators work "hands-on" in collaboration with grassroots community task forces in each of the seven statewide regions to create and develop safe, affordable, quality, permanent housing options for persons diagnosed with a mental illness and/or co-occurring disorder. If you are interested in becoming involved with the CHI, please contact the appropriate Regional Housing Facilitator.

 

The Regional Housing Facilitator:

1. Facilitates the local task force meetings;
2. Aggressively seeks out and collaborates with potential funding entities to leverage and funnel housing funds to local communities;
3. Identifies and recommends financing strategies and grants that will provide support for the development of permanent housing options and associated support services;
4. Collaborates with all available local resources through the local CHI task forces to increase the availability of, and access to, housing;
5. Coordinates with other public agencies and the private sector to stimulate the preservation, development, and enhancement of housing options;
6. Directs new resources and develops plans, as funds become available, for increasing housing oportunities;
7. Upholds the quality of the current housing options utilized for those persons diagnosed with a mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders.

The Consumer Housing Specialist:

Manages and updates the www.recoverywinthinreach.org website. This website is a vital tool that provides resources to individuals regarding housing, recovery, and employment opportunities. The CHS partners with existing community housing stakeholders in creating linkages, resource development, and community education efforts.

Researches, evaluates, and builds a comprehensive information collection and dissemination database of housing resources, housing options, and community housing development programs which will identify current needs and issues to aid in the process of developing solutions.

Involves key stakeholders in all project activities including planning, product development, dissemination, and evaluation.

Increases the public's understanding and support for individuals with a mental illness and/or with co-occurring disorders.

 

A longitudinal evaluation of housing issues was conducted that followed 200 consumers who moved and were integrated from inpatient and institutional settings back into the community.

The Recovery Within Reach network in Tennessee is comprised of professional staff, advocates, volunteers, policy makers, regional administrators, and direct service providers committed to working on behalf of all Tennesseans who have a mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders to help them build the most fulfilled and dignified lives possible.

Equal-HousingSafe Affordable Permanent Housing

BHI offers Supportive Living Facilities (group homes with 24-hour staff), Independent Living Homes, and Independent Apartments for persons who have a disability and/or mental illness.

BHI maintains group homes in Jackson, Puryear, and Memphis. Independent Living Homes are located in Jackson, Puryear, and Bethel Springs. Independent Apartments are situated in Bolivar, Savannah, and Memphis.
